The Urban House 1 project is a collaborative effort between the following organizations

 

IIT College of Architecture provides a comprehensive curriculum addressing design concepts, materials and construction, systems, planning, and history at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.   Students from the COA completed the design of the house in the spring semester and will build the major parts of the structure in the fall semester.

Genesis Housing Development Corporation is a faith-based nonprofit organization incorporated to address issues of affordable housing and the ability of low-and-moderate-income people to own their own homes.   Genesis HDC will act as developer and owner for the project.   The home will be open for visitors as a demonstration project before being sold.

Dawson Technical Institute is a community-oriented institute whose primary mission is to provide short-term intensive training in business, health services, food services, and the trades.   Students from Dawson will work with the IIT students on the construction of the project.
