IIT Non-Student Invoice Request Web Site

Previously, IIT Non-Student Invoices were processed through the Project Accounting department of the Controllers Office. That responsibility has been transitioned to the Bursar Office. As a result, there have been changes made in the way these invoices are processed. We have created this web site to answer any questions you may have.

The purpose of this site is to facilitate your request to invoice a vendor. On this site you will find:

  • A description of the IIT Non-Student invoice process
  • Contact information for persons requesting an invoice
  • A Request for Invoice Form

Description of the process

IIT Non-Student Invoices are requested for a variety of reasons. A few of the general and most common examples are:

  • rental of IIT space
  • use of IIT services
  • sale of IIT products
  • use of IIT owned energy

IIT Non-Student Invoices are generated by the Bursar Office. As such, they are also responsible for the collection of past due invoices.

After sending a request for invoice form via email, the requestor will receive confirmation of the Bursar Office receipt of the request. If you do not receive an email confirmation, please contact the Bursar Office immediately.

In order to generate an invoice, supporting documentation is required. Supporting documentation is widely defined as paperwork that supports the Description of Charges category on the invoice request form. Whenever possible, supporting documentation should include a signed acknowledgement by the party that we are invoicing.

Invoices are generated within 3-5 business days of receipt of the request and supporting documentation. If no supporting documentation is available, be sure to indicate that on the request for invoice form. Although it is not recommended, the request for invoice form can be printed out and submitted on paper.

Form to Request an Invoice

The form is a customized Excel template that indicates what information needs to be supplied.

You must save the template file to disk on your PC in order to make your changes. (If you open the file directly in Excel, and mail it without saving it to disk, the original template is sent, without your filled-in information.)

You must use a current browser, such as Internet Explorer 5 or higher, or Netscape 6, to access this file.   Netscape 4.x will not download this file in a readable form.

To copy the Excel template to your disk, right-click on the link below and select "Save Target As" (or "Save Link As", in Netscape).
Choose a directory on your disk.

IIT Request for Non-Student Invoice Form

Open the saved disk file (in Excel), and type your changes.  
E-mail it (from inside Excel) by selecting:
"File" - "Send to" - "Mail Recipient (as Attachment)".
Send it to Tamara Posley at posley@iit.edu.
This will send your filled-in version of the file.

You may either save the filled-in spreadsheet file or not save it.  If you save it, you might want to "save as" a different name, in order to keep the template clear for future use.
