THIS GUIDELINE IS VALID FOR THE 2004 - 2007 ACADEMIC BULLETIN AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE

  1. GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM - Please consult the General Education section of the current IIT Bulletin for complete requirements.

    1. Basic Writing Proficiency - Students must show basic writing proficiency by receiving a satisfactory score on the Writing Proficiency Examination or by passing an English Composition course.

    2. Humanities - Choose one course from the following: HIS 101, 102, 115, 116, 118, 120, 121, 151, 152, 160, 201; HUM 101, 102, 103, 104, 107, 110, 112, 113, 117, 118, 124, 170, 202, 203, 204, 205, 216, 217, 231; INS 107, 204; or LIT 201, 202, 203, 205, 210, 211, 214, 215, 216, 217, 219, 223, 230, 231, 235, 241, 242, 243, 244, 245.

    3. Social Sciences - Choose one course from the following: ATR 110, 120, 170, 210, 220; BEC 101, 102, 103; ECN 111; GEO 116; INS 131, 133, 135, 138, 224; POS 150, 151, 152, 250, 251, 253; or SOC 100, 201, 209, 210, 211, 215, 220, 225, 230.

    4. Choose one course from section B or section C from the following: ART 115, 151, 152, 153, 154, 155; HIS 130, 131, 140, 141; HUM 208, 224; INS 159, 208; LIT 222, 225, 229; MUS 104, 105, 106, 107; or THE 100, 122, 124.

    5. Science Electives - A minimum of eleven (11) credit hours is required to fulfill this requirement. A Psychology major should complete BIO 110, 113 or 130 and additional courses chosen from the following to total 11 credit hours: ATY 100, 101; BIO 105, 110, 113, 114, 115, 120, 130, 135, 136, 150; CHM 101, 112, 115, 142, 143, 170; or PHY 101, 102, 111, 112, 113.

  2. EQUIVALENCIES - Following is a list of courses that will transfer into the Psychology program at IIT and their direct equivalents at Elgin Community College:
