Shimer College

Founded in 1853 in Mount Carroll, Illinois, and focused on the "Great Books" curriculum, Shimer College moved to Main Campus in fall 2005 from the northern suburb of Waukegan. Occupying a floor in University Techology Park, Shimer enjoys a similar relationship with IIT as VanderCook, and students may take courses at Shimer for humanities or social studies credit if desired.
