Sort "n" Report
Have child sort groups of objects, count the items in each group and record the results in a Treasure Report.

• Help your child collect a group of objects to sort. Your child could collect items from any of the following:

Junk mail	cans, boxes, or cartons
boxes of screws	pens and pencils
shoes or socks	hair clips and ponytail holders
books	bottons
toys	coins

• Have your child make a written report of the results of sorting the group.
• Have your child graph the different groups.

MATH
Count for Me

• Tell you child a starting number, such as 94, and say
       "Count for me by ones."
• Choose another number, such as 60, and say,
       "Count for me by tens (or fives, or twos)."

Play this game often.  Provide assistance with counting when your child needs it.  Try reversing the game so that your are doing the counting. This provides a model for your child to follow.  Make intentional mistakes while you are counting---it's fun for your child to catch your mistakes.

LANGUAGE ARTS
Retelling

1.  Read a story to your child or listen to them read a favorite book to you.  Old favorites like Goldilocks and the Three Bears are great for this activity.

2.  After reading the story, have your child retell what happened in the story in their own words.

3.  Have your child write their retelling and illustrate pictures to go along with their story retelling.
