Discovery Approach To Science
EnHancement
Program for Talented High School Students
Illinois Institute of Technology
DASH Program Goals
The aim of DASH is to motivate and prepare students for careers in science and engineering through a discovery process of learning and achievement. Students spend two weeks exploring the physical concepts regarding the relationship between acceleration, velocity, and distance.
During the second two weeks, students are introduced to the world of engineering and manufacturing through the designing, building, and launching of model rockets.
Classroom sessions are complemented by hands-on experiments, computer assignments, and field trips, including a "Physics Day" at Great America Theme Park.

You Will...
...experience and discover scientific phenomena through lab experiments and lecture demonstrations by award winning IIT faculty and top IIT students.
...construct models for the phenomena on IIT's computer network, learn to use spreadsheet and presentation software, and surf the World Wide Web.
...design and construct model rockets.
...compete in exciting lunch time sports and events, go on interesting field trips, and make new friends who are also interested in science and engineering.
