Metra at IIT
Metra trains are now stopping at the new Lovana S. "Lou" Jones station at 35th St. along the Rock Island line.
The new, fully accessible station features heated ramps, stairways, eight-car platforms, heated platform shelters, bicycle racks, benches, Metra's audio and visual information system, lighting and landscaping.
It is the first new Metra station since 2006.
On weekdays, 26 inbound trains and 21 outbound trains will stop at the new station. It will be served by all weekend trains. Metra will increase its service on game days to accommodate White Sox fans.
The Metra Board of Directors voted to name the station after Jones, who served for 20 years as the representative for the 26th Legislative District and was the assistant House majority leader. Jones died in 2006.
The Rock Island line schedule with stops at the new station is available here.
