    We are now accepting applications for the Fall 2010 term for all of our programs. Fall classes start August 23, 2010.

    Application Deadlines for Fall 2010:

    Master of Architecture, Master of Science in Architecture and Master of Integrated Building Delivery - January 15, 2010

    Master of Landscape Architecture - Rolling admissions (recommend applying by January 15, 2010)

    Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture - April 15, 2010

    Admission Requirements

    Below is a list of the materials you will need to submit for all College of Architecture graduate degree programs. The Admissions Committee will not review application packets until all of the required materials have been received. We strongly encourage applicants to submit their admission materials together in a single package to avoid delays in processing. For complete instructions and information on the admission requirements please review the details for your specific program below and read the Graduate Application Guide. Once you have submitted your application you may check your status online at http://department.iit.edu/applicationstatus/.

    $40 non-refundable application fee
    Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores (International students only)

    International applicants requiring a student visa to study in the U.S. will also need to submit a Financial Affidavit of Support. We encourage applicants to submit their Financial Affidavit of Support along with the admission requirements above but a decision can be made without a Financial Affidavit of Support on file.

    Campus Visits

    We invite you to visit the College of Architecture to view our facilities, meet the faculty and see the student work in progress. We will be hosting a Graduate Program Open House on November 13th and encourage prospective students to attend. For more information on the event, please click here.     Individual visits may be scheduled by contacting us at arch@iit.edu or 312.567.3230. We recommend visiting on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm when architecture design studios are in session.

    If you are interested in a more in-depth tour of Mies van der Rohe’s campus and the significant campus architecture we encourage you to take one of the tours offered by the Mies van der Rohe Society.     Master of Architecture (M.Arch), Professional Degree

    Applications to the Master of Architecture program are accepted only for entry during the fall semester. The application deadline for the Fall 2010 term is January 15, 2010. Applications must be postmarked by the deadline in order to be considered for scholarships. Admission decisions for all applications arriving by the January 15th deadline will be issued in March. Late applications will be accepted if space is available, but the admission decision will depend upon the admission committee’s review schedule. All applicants will need to submit a portfolio to receive an admission decision.

    Master of Science in Architecture (M.S.Arch), Post-Professional Degree

    Applications to the Master of Science in Architecture program are accepted only for entry during the fall semester. The application deadline for the Fall 2010 term is January 15, 2010. Applications must be postmarked by the deadline in order to be considered for scholarships. Admission decisions for all applications arriving by the January 15th deadline will be issued in March. Late applications will be accepted if space is available, but the admission decision will depend upon the admission committee’s review schedule. All applicants will need to submit a portfolio to receive an admission decision.

    In addition to the standard requirements for graduate admission, applicants for the Master of Science in Architecture program must submit a Topic Proposal outlining their potential research interests. Students interested in pursuing the Master of Science in Architecture with a Specialization in Sustainable New Cities should indicate their interest in the specialization on their application. A personal interview with the director of the degree program is highly recommended.

    Master of Integrated Building Delivery, Post-Professional Degree

    The Master of Integrated Building Delivery program accepts applications for the fall term but will consider applications for a spring start date on a case by case basis. The application deadline for the fall 2010 term is January 15, 2010. Applications must be postmarked by the deadline in order to be considered for scholarships. Admission decisions for all applications arriving by the January 15th deadline will be issued in March. Late applications will be accepted if space is available, but the admission decision will depend upon the admission committee’s review schedule. All applicants will need to submit a portfolio to receive an admission decision.

    Classes are held in the evenings and weekends, allowing for a part-time option.

    Master of Landscape Architecture

    Applications to the Master of Landscape Architecture program are accepted for the fall term on a rolling basis; however, applicants are encouraged to apply by the January 15, 2010 deadline.

    Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture (Ph.D.)

    Applicants are accepted in the fall and spring terms. Spring 2010 applications are now being accepted and the application deadline is November 15, 2009. The application deadline for the Fall 2010 term is April 15, 2010.

    Applicants should meet all admission requirements, plus a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale; a TOEFL score of at least 80 IBT(International students only) ; and at least three letters of recommendations from immediate supervising professors plus an additional list of references. Applicants should also submit a statement of purpose indicating a subject of study or research work and should provide a portfolio demonstrating the qualities of his or her accomplishments and expertise.
