Research & Major Accomplishments
Terry Guen brings 25 years of sustainable landscape and urban design experience to multidisciplinary teams, as principal and founder of Chicago based Terry Guen Design Associates, Inc. Known for its creative, energetic, and thoughtful vision, TGDA employs all scales of landscape design, from field interpretation of sites, large-scale urban ecological master landscape planning, construction documentation, innovation of details and specification, to administer complex, high profile sustainable public spaces. As result of Terry’s leadership, design advocacy and vision, Chicago agencies have moved forward with a constructed body of ecologically designed and highly aesthetic public spaces. In support of this avocation, Terry teaches the third year graduate design studio at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Program in Landscape Architecture.
In 2011, Terry was appointed by President Obama to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, a US Federal agency which advises the President and Congress on Preservation initiatives, practices and policy. She is honored as the second landscape architect expert member to serve on the Council since its inception in 1967.
