Research & Major Accomplishments
Professor Hovey designed and built IIT's Michigan Place town homes and condominiums in the university's acreage at Michigan Avenue and 32nd Street. The development plan consists of 120 residences, a combination of town homes and condominiums intended both for the general public and for IIT faculty and staff at incentive pricing.
Since founding Optima in 1978, he has designed and built more than 4,000 housing units in metropolitan Chicago and Phoenix, Arizona. The company has completed more than 30 projects and won 17 design awards.
