Research & Major Accomplishments
Mary Pat Mattson is a registered landscape architect and Studio Assistant Professor at IIT. She teaches Site/City/Region and Urban Design studios, as well as courses in ecological + urban systems and landscape architecture professional practice. Previously she taught design studios on an adjunct basis at Morgan State University and the University of Maryland, College Park. Her studios focus on the research, interpretation, and uncovering of site histories and latent systems in the development of regenerative design proposals. Through a small private practice, she is currently working on a green infrastructure stormwater study for the City of Chicago industrial corridors. Previously Mattson has worked for design offices in California and Maryland. She has a BA from the College of William & Mary, a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia, and is completing a Certificate in Sustainability Change Management at the University of Chicago.
