    Adjunct Assistant Professor Jesse Vogler led his first-year MLA studio students on a trip through Spain in mid-March. Students visited a variety of sites in Barcelona, San Sebastián, Zaragoza, Madrid, and Granada.

    Spring 2009
    The Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium

    Nine first-year MLA students, accompanied by Program Director Peter Osler, spent 13 days traveling through the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium in mid-March. Trip highlights included a variety of urban and rural landscape projects, noteworthy architecture, museums, and a three-day design project at a nature and art preserve near Düsseldorf. Students visited the offices of Michael van Gessel, Wirtz International, Karres & Brands, and more.

    Spring 2009

    The fifteen students of LA 544/546, Advanced Landscape Design Investigations, spent five days in  the Toronto area with their studio and the Driehaus Visiting Professors of Landscape Architecture. The class and three professors toured the RARE Charitable Research Reserve in Cambridge, Ontario in preparation for a studio project in which they addressed the real-life problem of providing public access to the site.

    Fall 2008
    Minnesota and Wisconsin

    Professor Eric Ellingsen led the students of Studio I: Dynamics and Processes of Place on a field trip to Minnesota and Wisconsin during their first semester in the MLA program. There they viewed buildings by Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright.

    Spring 2008
    The Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium

    Seven MLA students and Program Director Peter Osler spent 10 days in late March exploring the cities and landscapes of these three countries. The group had office visits with such designers as Petra Blaisse, Rudy Luijters, Karres & Brands, Piet Oudolf, West 8, and Wirtz International.

    The Netherlands

    With help from the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, the College was able to send 18 students on a field trip to the Netherlands. Students biked around Amsterdam for several days and studied the new housing and public parks, visited museums, housing projects, parks and numerous botanic gardens. The trip was led by Driehaus Visiting Professor Tom Oslund and Professor Elizabeth Koreman.
