Graduation Fee - The mandatory graduation fee is intended to cover all administrative costs associated with the application, checkout, posting and degree reporting processes. Voluntary participation in the main and/or unit commencement ceremonies is provided at no additional cost to qualified students and their guests. Proceeds from the graduation fee do not apply to university expenses for student and guest participation in the main and/or academic unit ceremonies, such as caps and gowns.
New Student Fee - The First Year Student Fee is a mandatory one-time fee assessed to all new students. The fee covers the new student orientation program provided at the beginning of each semester and funds first-year student programs.
Activity Fee - The student activity fee is a mandatory fee that assists programs directly related to campus activities in conjunction with student organizations. The use and allocation of this fee is handled directly by students via the Finance Board, with accountability to the Student Government Association. This fee supports student organization's operational, programming and conference budgets as well as large scale campus events.

All full-time Main Campus undergraduate students (registered for 12 or more academic credits) and full-time graduate students (registered for 9 or more academic credits) will automatically be charged the U-Pass fee. This includes students at Rice Campus, Moffett Campus and Distance Learning students.
Students that are registered for a CO-OP or internship, or who are a teaching assistant and/or research assistant are not eligible to receive a U-Pass unless they are carrying a full-time academic course load.
