Green Buildings
Green Buildings Programs & Projects: 2009/2010 school year
Achieving our sustainability goals requires action, and while we develop a guiding plan for how to achieve the Campus Sustainability Vision, IIT is implementing the following projects and programs to have an immediate, positive impact.
LEED Existing Buildings (EB) Pilot Program
- Document path to green for all campus buildings
- Select five buildings from Main Campus
- Downtown, Rice, Moffett and ID campuses
- Target spring 2010 performance period
- Develop plan for all campus buildings
Each semester, as many as twelve Interprofessional Projects (IPRO) bring together teams of students to address issues related to sustainability.
In the Spring 2010 semester, the Office of Campus Energy and Sustainability is sponsoring IPRO 326 Greening IIT; the team from that IPRO will work with the group developing the Stormwater/Landscape Action Plan to identify and document the specific steps IIT can take to become a greener, more sustainable campus.
