    Resume Writing

To the employer, your resume and cover letter - a few pieces of paper - are you. You can't afford to make a mistake. The Center offers certified professionals who tailor your resume and resume cover letter to your specific situation, talents, and goals.

The resume and cover letter are supposed to make you stand out from everyone else, so that you will receive an interview and get the job. Don't let your resume and cover letter be the weak link in your job search. Position yourself correctly to get the interview and the job you want with a competitive, 1-page (or 2-page) resume, and  a 1-page cover letter, both tailored to your strengths, talents, and value to an employer.

Maybe you have written 4 or 5 resumes in your life; we have written and edited thousands. We help eliminate the pain and uncertainty of writing. We also help you develop the motivation and strategies to succeed in landing the right job for you.

Our professionals have written and edited successful resumes, cover letters, and mission statements for thousands of satisfied clients in all walks of life for over two decades. Not only that, but once you learn the secrets of writing an effective resume, it will help the way in which you interview.

Avoid the 10 biggest resume and cover letter writing mistakes:

    1. Not getting expert help from a certified resume writer. Trying to write it yourself after getting a sample out of a book, off a website, or from a friend.
    2. Writing for readers who you think will read every word. Most of them will only skim-read.
    3. Failure to create a format that will position you or target you specifically for the type of job you want.
    4. Forcing your reader to have to “dig” to find what they are looking for.
    5. Burying your strengths or making them hard to find quickly.
    6. Always starting a description with a verb; not knowing which word is the best word to start with in any line.
    7. Using paper with any color but white.
    8. Writing an objective section (e.g., summarizing your work experience) at the top of the resume and not knowing what really should be put in that position.
    9. Not working with a resume expert who will work with you individually so that your unique background and strengths will be highlighted.
    10. Writing a cover letter that is just a re-hash of your resume.
