Invitation LetterCurrent F-1 and J-1 IIT international students can request an invitation letter for family members who might apply for a visa to enter the United States to attend Commencement. While invitation letters are not required for visa issuance, they can help facilitate the process.
The request for an invitation letter is available online with the International Center.
If you are studying at IIT in a status other than F-1 or J-1, the International Center cannot write an invitation letter for your family members and friends. However, you can write your own invitation letters for family members and friends. Include your name, date of birth, immigration status, major and degree level, that you are a student at IIT, the Commencement date, and your family members' and friends' names and birth dates.
