    Manufacturing Productivity Center Staff

    MPC staff are experienced professionals who are also adjunct faculty in IIT's Industrial Technology and Management (INTM) Programs. MPC also has access to all of IIT Center's science and engineering resources.

    Edmund Feldy, P.E., M.S.M.E., M.B.A.
    Engineering Design
    Mr. Feldy is a leader in the practice of mechanical design with over 30 years experience. He holds an MSME from IIT and an MBA from University of Chicago. His career was spent with the Bell systems companies including Lucent and AT&T in management and engineering. He has been active in ASME's Design Division as well as with ABET. Within the INTM program, he developed and has taught Mechanical Technology and Vendor/Customer Relations since the program started. Recent assignments have included the use of a magnetic tool holder in machining, the design of high speed equipment and regulatory safety compliance.

    Jerry Field, Ed.D., M.B.A.
    Marketing
    Dr. Field has over 40 years of experience in education/training, marketing and public relations. These talents have been applied to economic and community development as well as developing training programs at all levels. His work has included a variety of marketing and PR efforts for businesses. Within the INTM program, he teaches Sales and Marketing and has primary responsibility for outreach to community colleges and high schools. On a recent MPC assignment, he worked with the Teamsters Union on a demonstration program to develop training for displaced workers. Over 100 displaced workers received training and successfully reentered the workforce.

    Will Maurer, M.S.
    Manufacturing
    Will Maurer has over 20 years of manufacturing experience, including 8 years as a line manager with profit/loss responsibility and 6 years providing consulting services to company management. Much of his experience was in the plastics industry. His undergraduate degree in Chemistry is from the University of Illinois at Chicago, while he earned his MS in Project Management from Keller. Mr. Maurer teaches Industrial Enterprises and Project Management for the INTM program at IIT. His consulting activities include implementation of new operations to increase capability without adding new equipment or space, new product development, demand flow manufacturing, and new equipment implementation.

    Rama Shankar, M.S.
    Quality Management
    Ms. Shankar has over 15 years of experience in Lean Manufacturing, GMP, Product/Process and System Audits, and ISO/QS 9000/ISO 14000 implementation. She teaches Quality Management for the INTM program. Her education includes BSME and MS in Material Management (India) and Master in Engineering Management from NU. She performed set-up time reduction (Kaizen Blitz) for automotive, paper, and steel tube companies with documented reductions of set-up times ranging from 54 to 72%. Previous employment includes 3 years as Director of Quality and Process Improvement for Chicago Manufacturing Center and 2 years as QA Manager for Illinois Tool Works Spiroid.

    Daniel R. Tomal, Ph.D.
    Technical Management
    Dr. Tomal has over 20 years experience in electronic technology and leadership. He holds a Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University and BS and MS in Industrial Education from Ball State. In the INTM program he teaches Workplace Communications as well as Electronic/Electrical Technology. Dan has worked with a variety of organizations on OD and leadership programs as well as web site/on-line training and development. As a facilitator for the Tooling & Manufacturing Association, he works to optimize meeting results.
