IT Certificate Programs offered through the Center for Professional Development (CPD) of Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) are semester long training classes designed for working professionals who are either looking to upgrade their IT and IT management skills or make a career change into the field of computer technology and/or technology management.IT specific classes are a combination of lecture and lab allowing for hands-on practice of skills and concepts presented. All classes are taught by IT professionals who enhance the learning process with real world knowledge and experience. Classes may be taken as individual certificate programs, as credit towards a Bachelor or Master's degree in Information Technology & Management at the Illinois Institute of Technology, or as a three certificate program sequence awarding the participant a Master Certificate in Computer Security.

IT Certificate Programs are one of the many groups of offerings of the Professional Learning Programs department of the CPD which has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). In obtaining this approval, the Professional Learning Programs of the CPD has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET Standards which are widely recognized as standards of good practice internationally. As a result of their Authorized Provider membership status, the Professional Learning Programs is authorized to offer IACET CEUs (Continuing Education Units) for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standards.
