Applying for an F-1 visa for the International IT/Business Certificate Programs
1. Upon admission into the semester programs, students must provide a certified bank statement showing proof of financial ability to pay.
2. Bank statement must show funds to cover tuition, living expenses, books, fees, and health insurance through IIT.
3. If the certified bank statement isn't in the student's name, an original, signed affidavit of support must be provided to show the relationship between the supporter and the student. The affidavit of support must show the amount in U.S. dollars that is being provided for the student's study and expenses. The letter must include the signature of the person supporting the student. Only originals are accepted in order to apply for an I-20.
4. Once an I-20 is requested from the International Center, it takes two-three weeks for it to reach the student.
5. The student should interview for their F-1 visa and keep the program office informed as to the status of his/her visa.
