    Ph.D. Candidate Accepts Postdoc at Institute of Mathematics and its Applications

    Xingye Kan (Ph.D. candidate, applied mathematics) has accepted a two-year postdoctoral position at the National Science Foundation-funded Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) at the University of Minnesota. At IIT, Kan has worked closely with co-advisers Jeffrey Duan, professor of applied mathematics, and Xiaofan Li, associate professor of applied mathematics, and received support from the first F.R. Buck McMorris Summer Research Stipend.

    Kan's research interests are computational fluid dynamics, computational materials science, numerical analysis, and computational acoustics. She will conduct joint research with people in the IMA and in the mathematics department at the University of Minnesota.

    Founded in 1982, IMA connects scientists, engineers, and mathematicians in order to address scientific and technological challenges in a collaborative environment.
