Exact Instructions for using Fasshauer's Introduction to Maple
- Right-click here, and save the file "intro.mw" to the Desktop.
- Find Maple 12 and start the program (probably by double-clicking on a maple leaf icon). Wait for Maple to begin.
- From within Maple, "Open" a file, then click on "Desktop", then open the file intro.mw.
- Start reading through the worksheet. Every time you get to a line in red, click on it and hit the "Enter" key! Most of the time, something visible will happen. For example, the second red line should produce a blue fraction.
- Continue going through the whole worksheet carefully like this. There's nothing superfluous in this introduction; it will save you time in the long run.
One more thing:
To start a new line of input (the lines that begin with "[>"), click on the button labeled [> at the top. Then immediately press Ctrl-M, which will make the input red and fixed-width.
To start a new line of text, click on the button at the top labelled "T".
