    Master of Materials and Chemical Synthesis


    Earn your Master of Materials and Chemical Synthesis online.

The IIT Master of Materials and Chemical Synthesis combines technical depth with a grounding in automation, purification, separation, and materials characterization techniques.     Convenience

    • To accommodate your schedule, courses are offered on the Internet.
    • The entire program may be completed in 2.5 years of part-time study, though you may choose to take longer to finish.
    • No thesis required.
    • Lectures may be viewed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

    • Tuition deferment available.
    • Students may start the program in August, January or June.

    + Admission Requirements


    A bachelor's degree, ideally in sciences or engineering, with a GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 from an accredited U.S. educational institution is required for domestic students. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for International students, those with an undergraduate GPA between 2.5 and 3.0, or at the request of the admissions committee.

    2 semesters of calculus
    2 semesters of organic chemistry

    + Required Courses


    Students must successfully complete all 11 required courses, earning a "C" or higher in each course while maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.0/4.0 ("B" average). Courses for which students have received a failing grade, "E", do not count toward degree fulfillment and must be repeated.

    To earn the degree, students must pass a comprehensive exam. Students are eligible to take this exam upon permission of the Program Director.
