    Biology Graduate Programs

    Master of Science in Biology with specialization in Cell and Molecular Biology

    Admission Requirements

    Admission requirements are identical to those required for all Master of Science students in Biology.


    Required Courses

    Students in this program must complete 34 credit hours of graduate work, including the following:

    BIOL 401 Introductory Biochemistry 3 Credits
    BIOL 402 Metabolic Biochemistry 3 Credits
    BIOL 512* Advanced Biochemistry 3 Credits
    BIOL 555* Macromolecular Structure Determination 3 Credits
    BIOL 445 Cell Biology 3 Credits
    BIOL 515 Molecular Biology 3 Credits
    BIOL 526 Developmental Biology 3 Credits
    BIOL 533 Laboratory in Cell and Molecular Biology 3 Credit
    BIOL 562 Functional Genomics 3 Credits
    BIOL 595** Biology Colloquium 1 Credits
    BIOL 591** Research 6 Credits
    BIOL 576** Literature in Cell and Molecular Biology 3 Credits
    Elective** 3 Credits

    *Students must complete BIOL 512 or BIOL 555.

    **Students specializing in Cell and Molecular Biology must take one credit hour of BIOL 595, either six credit hours of BIOL 591 or BIOL 576, and one additional 3 credit hour elective.
