    Research & Major Accomplishments

    The Research in Dr. Buttner’s Group within the Chemistry Division of IIT focuses on the development of new chemical sensors and chemical-sensor methods to address unique analytical problems. Current research projects emphasize the use of advanced materials and structures to produce chemical sensors for applications ranging from biomedical, energy, and security. Since 2005 Dr. Buttner has been the director of the International Center for Sensor Science and Engineering (ICSSE) at IIT, which allows for intra-divisional and inter-divisional collaborations at IIT, as well as external collaborations on sensor-related research.
