    Research & Major Accomplishments

    Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, especially oxazolones.

    Synthesis of novel fluorine-containing compounds, including use of new reagents, e.g., XeF2, for the selective introduction of fluorine into organic molecules.

    Studies on the effect of fluorine substitution on the physical properties and chemical reactivities of aliphatic and aromatic compounds.

    The unusual chemistry of polyfluoroaromatic compounds.  The important role that fluorine plays in biochemistry and medicinal chemistry.

    Lithium-ion battery electrolytes and additives, including patented thermal runaway inhibitors.

    Hydrogen storage materials.
