CS Doctoral Student Tristan Sloughter Wins ARCS Chicago Fellowship
Tristan Sloughter, computer science doctoral student in the Information Retrieval (IR) Lab, has been named a 2008-2009 ARCS (Achievement Awards for College Students) Chicago Fellow. The fellowship will provide him with an unrestricted $10,000 annual award for up to four years as long as he continues to make satisfactory progress in his graduate program. Tristan is the first recipient of the award from IIT's Computer Science Department. His adviser is Ophir Frieder, the IITRI Chair Professor of Computer Science and the Director of the Information Retrieval Laboratory.
