Dennis Roberson Awarded NSF Grant to Improve Mission-Critical Wireless Networks
Dennis Roberson, vice provost of IIT and a research professor of computer science, was recently awarded a $450,000, three-year grant from the National Science Foundation for "Dynamic Spectrum Access for Mission Critical Wireless Networks." The research aims to increase radio frequency spectrum access and efficiency for public safety first-responders in emergencies. Professor Roberson will combine spectrum measurements with empirical and analytical modeling and discrete-event simulation to compare Dynamic Spectrum Access approaches for improving capacity while maintaining performance.
