    ACM Programming Contest 2007

IIT sent 4 teams to the 2007 ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (Mid-Central US Region), held on November 4 and sponsored by IBM and ACM. The winning team from Northwestern solved 6 of the 8 problems; the IIT-B team solved 5 problems and placed 3rd of the 17 teams who competed at UI Chicago, the local host school. For the entire region, the IIT-B team placed 9th out of 115 teams, well in the top ten percent. Congratulations and thanks go to team members Chris Mitillos (Applied Math), Jeffrey Rebacz (CS), and Anton Varshavskiy (CS).

The IIT-Dragons and IIT-Chicago teams both solved 4 problems and finished 7th and 9th respectively (26th and 28th for the entire region). Unfortunately, only one member of the IIT-A team was able to compete (there was a GRE exam the same day), so Evan Larkin deserves special thanks for his valiant efforts. Thanks and congratulations also go to Lance Cooper, Jesus Tugade, and Aurimas Vinckevicius (IIT-Dragons), and Adam Bain, Arthur McAnally, and Kevin Tung (IIT-Chicago).

The team coach, Professor Gruia Calinescu, is always looking for undergraduate and first-year graduate students for the team. Please contact him if you're interested.
