Nippert-Eng's Book on Privacy Continues to Garner Global Interest
Christena Nippert-Eng has continued to receive global interest for her book Islands of Privacy, which debuted last fall. Nippert-Eng is acting chair of the Department of Social Sciences and associate professor of sociology.
In Canada, she gave a talk for the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada "Insights on Privacy" event with Allessandro Acquisti, an associate professor of information technology and public policy at the Heinz College, Carnegie Mellon University.
She appeared on the Irish independent radio station Newstalk with Sean Moncrieff and KUCI, Irvine, CA with Mari Frank. She recently learned that Islands of Privacy will be translated and published in Korean in the next two years.
Back in Chicago, Nippert-Eng gave invited talks at the Scherer Center for the Study of American Culture at the University of Chicago, and to the Department of Sociology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also spoke at Deloitte this month for the Chicago branch of the International Privacy Professionals Association.
