Good Things Come in Small Packages

CSL Feature Story

One of the smaller academic units at the Illinois Institute of Technology, the Department of Social Sciences makes up in quality and personalized attention what it may lack in quantity. Over 76 % of our classes are taught by full-time faculty members who are experts in their fields of specialization. While they are all active researchers and writers, their primary responsibility is to teach and mentor undergraduates. We use adjunct instructors sparingly--just in areas where particular expertise is needed to enrich our program. Our introductory and intermediate classes have a maximum of 25 students, and our upper-level seminars are limited to 15 students. You're never just a number in our department.
