Research & Major Accomplishments
Merriman is currently pursuing two distinct lines of research. In the first, he examines regional economic change since World War II, with an eye toward the role that geographic scales, particularly political scales, play in this change. In the second, he attempts to specify an interactional mechanism that may serve as the social underpinning of Bourdieu's field theoretic account of social life.
