    Research & Major Accomplishments

    Dr. Daniel Bliss is an Assistant Professor of Political Science.  He earned his Ph.D at the University of Illinois at Chicago, specializing in urban and comparative politics and focusing on the effects of globalization as well as economic and community development and local government, and was selected for the University of Illinois Dean's Scholar Award.  The core of his research involves studying the extent to which institutional and organizational reform in state and local government can help citizens to achieve desired policies and outcomes.  Prior to coming to IIT, he served as an instructor at UIC, teaching graduate courses in public administration and undergraduate courses in political science.  Additionally, in 2007-08, he worked at the Government Finance Officers Association in Chicago, researching reform efforts such as change management and financial planning for local governments.
