Research & Major Accomplishments
Research:
A comparison of black and white access to various forms of institutional capital from four institutions in Chicago: the political party, labor union, public schools, and Catholic church and schools.
Major Accomplishments:
- Expert witness in federal racial gerrymandering suit against city of Chicago (1998) and in county patronage suit against states attorney of Cook County (1982) .
- Consultant, office of Mayor Harold Washington, 1984-1987.
- My article, "The Political Economy of Machine Politics" was cited frequently in U.S. Supreme Court case which established restrictions on use of political patronage (1990).
