Marketing and Communications Web team develops text-based and
graphics-based (HTML) mass email artwork for distribution by departments
or third parties in conjunction with the university's marketing,
fundraising and student recruitment efforts, and in support of
major university events. Emails are created according to acceptable,
anti-spam best practices of mass email marketing and distribution.
The team also creates e-newsletter communications for the Office
of the President and other executive-level departments.
Internal Broadcast Messages
Most internal broadcast informational messages (voicemail or email)
are restricted to news and information of an urgent nature that
must be communicated prior to the next edition of IIT
Today. Examples may include network shutdowns,
power outages, immediate shuttle bus schedule changes, public
safety concerns, and urgent news from the Office of the President
and Office of the Provost.
With few exceptions, messages broadcast through Office of Communications
may not be used to communicate staff appointments, department events,
or policies that may otherwise be published in routine communication
vehicles such as IIT Today (online
submission form), departmental
newsletters or memos. In addition to IIT Today, however, staff
may request that additional internal-only announcements be placed
through the Personal Announcements channel in myIIT.
Jon Kavanaugh, director of online content, manages most
broadcast messages to the IIT community. Contact him at kavanaugh@iit.edu; x7.5779.
Requests for broadcast messages also can be made online:
