Websites
Marketing and Communications Web team manages the design, navigation, branding
and content strategy for most of the university's websites for academic colleges
and institutes, and administrative departments, in collaboration with department
staffs. The team performs updates to the IIT.edu home page, global landing
pages and the websites of executive-level IIT administrative offices,
including President, Provost and General Counsel, among others.
Additionally, the team manages or participates in these Web-related activities:

- Hosts training, education and social activities of the Banner Web Users Group
- Electronic communication in the event of a natural disaster or other crisis that may affect much or all of IIT operations.
- Manages general email questions sent via IIT.edu and myIIT
Website Conversion Project
In 2007, following extensive competitive, focus group and website usability
research, the team began the multi-year process of converting all IIT professional
department sites to uniform navigation, branding, design and content standards.
As part of the effort, the production of IIT websites also shifted from the
use of traditional Web development tools to the university's Luminis Content
Management System (LCMS)--Site Studio. This enables nontechnical content
managers at the department level--armed with a suite of Web best practices
information--to maintain and update Web pages, using simple online tools.
Department end-users also are trained to optimize websites using emerging
best practices for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The team also is implementing
analytics across most sites to help track visitor statistics.
The strategic focus of most IIT websites is on the information and functional
needs of prospective students. During the conversion of websites to the content
management system model, internal-only content is repositioned in channels
and Web pages within the myIIT portal. This also improves search engine results
for the prospective student-focused public websites.

myIIT page, or email supportdesk@iit.edu.

Authorized content managers should enter an OTS Support Ticket. Include the website workgroup name, new user's full name, myIIT username, IIT email address and office phone. Also indicate whether the new user will be a Content Contributor or Content Manager (with publishing approval permissions)
