Broadcast messages (voicemail or e-mail) are restricted to news and information of an urgent nature that must be communicated prior to the next edition of IIT Today. Examples may include network shutdowns, power outages, immediate shuttle bus schedule changes and public safety concerns.

With few exceptions, messages broadcast through C&M should not be used to communicate staff appointments, department events, or policies that may otherwise be published in routine communication vehicles such as IIT Today (online submission form), departmental newsletters or memos.
