    Endowed Faculty Positions in Energy, Power, and Sustainability


    Founded in 1890, Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) is a private, Ph.D.-granting research university with eight colleges and offering programs in engineering, sciences, architecture, psychology, design, humanities, business, and law. IIT is a member of the Association of Independent Technological Universities and accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The university has five campus locations throughout the Chicago area, with IIT Main Campus located in the historic Bronzeville neighborhood near downtown Chicago.

    Since 2007, IIT has welcomed a new university president, Board of Trustees chairman, provost, and deans of both its Armour College of Engineering and College of Science and Letters. IIT has also opened and continues to expand University Technology Park at IIT. In 2009, IIT launched a new five-year strategic plan for the university, and in 2010 began a six-year fundraising campaign. Research in the area of energy and sustainability, and elevating the reputation of engineering at IIT to international stature, are top strategic priorities of the university.

    Armour College of Engineering has five academic departments and 97 full-time faculty members, 84 of whom are tenured or tenure-track. Each department is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Enrollment at the college includes 1,326 bachelor’s students and 1,085 master’s and Ph.D. students. Armour College is home to 15 research centers and two interdisciplinary IIT-wide research institutes, and boasts state-of-the-art facilities and collaborations with leading research and academic institutions. IIT faculty members have been awarded more than $38 million in energy-related government-sponsored research contracts since June 2008.

Candidates should merit appointment as full professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at IIT and have a record of distinguished research and educational achievements.
