    Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The university seeks a dynamic and vision-directed individual with proven leadership skills and an established history of excellence in both research and education pertinent to the field of biomedical engineering. Candidate must have an earned Ph.D. in biomedical engineering or related discipline. The new Chair will be expected to build on the successful educational programs within the department and work closely with the Pritzker Institute of Biomedical Science and Engineering at IIT to continue to grow research efforts.

    The Department of Biomedical Engineering has grown rapidly since its inception to its current size of 9 full-time faculty members and approximately 130 undergraduate and 29 graduate students. The department occupies new teaching and research labs and new office space. The Biomedical Engineering Department offers B.S. and Ph.D. degrees with educational and research efforts specializing in three tracks: Cell and Tissue Engineering, Medical Imaging, and Neural Engineering. These tracks are enhanced through close research and educational linkages with medical schools, research institutes, and national labs in the greater Chicago area. The Armour College of Engineering under the leadership of Dean Natacha DePaola, has embarked on an ambitious agenda to further expand the faculty in Biomedical Engineering, grow the research portfolio of the department, continue excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, increase diversity, and undertake major capital improvements across the campus.

    BME Tenure-track Position


    The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position.Position and salary will be commensurate with the candidate's experience. The Department of Biomedical Engineering offers B.S. and Ph.D. degrees with educational and research efforts specializing in three tracks: Cell and Tissue Engineering, Medical Imaging, and Neural Engineering. Applicants whose research lies in the area of cell and tissue engineering or medical imaging are particularly sought, although those working in neural engineering will also be considered. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering or a related discipline to be considered.Successful candidates will be expected to establish their own funded research program as well as to actively contribute to teaching of both undergraduate and graduate students.
