Transportation Engineering Faculty
The Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) invite applications for a tenure-track position in the Transportation Engineering area at the assistant professor level.The successful candidate will be expected to (1) develop and sustain an externally well funded research program; (2) teach undergraduate and graduate courses; (3) develop synergies with other IIT research programs and other organizations outside IIT in priority areas including, but not limited to, transportation systems demand and network modeling, safety and security, and new technologies concerning transportation infrastructure, vehicles, and human factors toward energy savings and sustainability; (4) involve in service to the university and the profession. Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in civil engineering with specialization in transportation and infrastructure systems engineering or a related field. The successful candidate is expected to be a licensed professional engineer or able to be licensed within 3 years. Architectural Engineering Faculty
The Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) announces the opening for a tenure track faculty position in architectural engineering at assistant or associate professor level.Applications will be reviewed immediately until the position is filled, no later than August 1, 2012. Special consideration will be given to candidates who qualify for appointment at the associate professor level. Qualified candidates should have experience in the area of holistic building integration of building envelopes and control systems. Areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, (1) sustainability and energy efficiency in building design; (2) building lighting, mechanical and/or electrical system design; (3) building control systems; (4) building envelope components, and/or (5) architectural acoustics and vibration control.
Preferred minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in engineering or a terminal degree in architecture with a professional engineer license (or ability to be licensed within three years) and a significant track record in related research areas. The experience and technical background needed to develop an externally well-funded research program is essential. Candidates are expected to attain significant research grants that support graduate students and provide a record of published research in highly recognized technical journals. Candidates must also have the experience and technical background to teach undergraduate and graduate architectural engineering courses.
This position will lead IIT’s undergraduate and graduate programs in architectural engineering and develop research synergies with other engineering disciplines, the IIT College of Architecture, and organizations outside of IIT. Salary and rank will be appropriate to the credentials of the selected applicant.
