Infrastructure Materials Faculty Position
The Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the materials area at all ranks. Senior rank candidates are expected to bring in a funded research program upon initiation.
The applicants should have a background in construction material engineering and technology primarily applicable to infrastructure systems. Possible areas of expertise are: innovative pavement and structural materials, advanced concrete technology, sustainable concrete, cutting-edge experimental and/or analytical methods applied to infrastructure materials, etc. The applicants must hold an earned doctorate by August 2013 in civil engineering with specialization in infrastructure material engineering, geomaterials engineering, structural engineering, or a closely related field.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
(1) sustain an externally well funded research program;
(2) teach undergraduate and graduate courses;
(3) develop synergies with other IIT research programs and other organizations outside IIT in priority areas including, but not limited to, highway pavement engineering and technology, geotechnical engineering, and transportation engineering;
(4) provide service to the university and the profession; and
(5) be a licensed professional engineer or be able to become licensed within 3 years.

The CAEE department at IIT offers ABET accredited BS degrees in civil engineering and in architectural engineering as well as graduate degrees in civil, architectural, and environmental engineering.
