    Endowed Chair Professorship: Max McGraw Professor of Energy and Power Engineering and Management


    The Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) seeks a distinguished scholar to be the Max McGraw Professor of Energy and Power Engineering and Management with an appointment as full professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department (www.ece.iit.edu). Candidates are expected to have an outstanding record of accomplishment in research and education commensurate with that of an eminent full professor with expertise related to energy and power engineering and management. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, distributed energy integration and microgrids. The position offers highly competitive compensation and benefits. The McGraw Endowed Chair will have a unique opportunity to work with a diverse group of 50 IIT faculty members affiliated with the Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research.

    The ECE Department offers bachelor, master and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering and in computer engineering. It accounts for the largest number of students in IIT's Armour College of Engineering, 313 degrees awarded in 2012 including 240 Master's and 10 Ph.D. degrees. The Department's 24 faculty conduct research in power and energy, image and signal processing, networks and communications, computer engineering, and electronics and electromagnetics, with research expenditures in the most recent fiscal year exceeding $6.7M.

The ECE Department plays a leading role in two key interdisciplinary themes identified in the strategic plan, through the Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation and the Medical Imaging Research Center.

    Faculty Positions


    The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions. Outstanding candidates in all areas of electrical and computer engineering will be considered with primary focus in the areas of computer and communications networks, cyber physical systems, and information and network security. We anticipate making appointments at the Assistant Professor level but appointments at all ranks will be considered.

    The successful candidate will be expected to develop and sustain an internationally recognized research program, be an effective classroom teacher at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and engage in service to the university and the profession. The experience and technical background needed to develop an externally funded research program are essential. Candidates are expected to obtain significant research funding that supports graduate students and to develop a record of published research. Candidates must hold a doctorate in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.

    The ECE department at IIT offers ABET accredited BS degrees in electrical and in computer engineering as well as graduate degrees in electrical and computer engineering.
