Endowed Chair Professorship: Grainger Chair in Electrical and Power Engineering
Illinois Institute of Technology invites nominations for, and expressions of interest in, the position of The Grainger Chair in Electrical and Power Engineering with tenure in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at IIT.
Candidates for the position of the Grainger Chair in Electrical and Power Engineering are expected to merit appointment as full professor in the ECE Department and have a record of distinguished research and educational achievements in areas related to microgrids, smart grid, or advanced grid technology.
The Grainger Chair will have a unique opportunity to work with more than 30 faculty members from all disciplines across the university and 50 industry members which are affiliated with the Center for Electricity Innovation in the Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research (WISER) at IIT. The Center for Electricity Innovation is a major university initiative to improve the reliability, security, efficiency, and sustainability of the nation’s electrical grid and overcome obstacles to the effective adoption and implementation of the smart grid. In the past two years, the Center has secured over $35 million in federally-funded research projects on smart grid research and education. The Center has also worked to build the first ever fully-functioning smart microgrid, spanning IIT’s Main Campus in Chicago. The DOE-funded microgrid project has positioned IIT as a global leader in perfect power and smart grid implementation and innovation.

Endowed Chair Professorship: Max McGraw Professor of Energy and Power Engineering and Management
Illinois Institute of Technology invites nominations for, and expressions of interest in, the position of The Max McGraw Professor of Energy and Power Engineering and Management with tenure in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at IIT.
IIT is a private research university in the heart of Chicago. IIT has entered an exciting period under leadership of a new president, provost, and dean of the Armour College of Engineering. IIT’s recently developed strategic plan places engineering excellence among its highest priorities. The growth of research and interdisciplinary education in the Energy area is central to this vision. The Armour College of Engineering offers bachelor, master and doctoral degree programs within five academic departments. Armour College has 84 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, 1,222 undergraduate students, and 1,222 graduate students.
Candidates for the position of the Max McGraw Professor of Energy and Power Engineering and Management are expected to merit appointment as full professor in the ECE Department and have a record of distinguished research and educational achievements in areas related to energy and power engineering and management.
Synergistic areas of interest include, but are not limited to, renewable energy integration, energy storage, energy management, forecasting, demand response, distributed energy integration and electrification of transportation.
The position offers highly competitive compensation and benefits. The McGraw Endowed Chair will have a unique opportunity to work with more than 50 IIT faculty members affiliated with the Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research (WISER) from all disciplines across the university spanning engineering, design, architecture, business, psychology, the sciences, and law. The ECE Department offers bachelor, master and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering and in computer engineering. It accounts for the largest number of students in IIT's Armour College of Engineering, with 305 degrees awarded in 2010 including 223 M.S. and 16 Ph.D. degrees. The department’s research activity spans the areas of power and energy, image and signal processing, communications engineering, computer engineering, and electronics.

Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) is seeking a distinguished scholar for Department Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department (www.ece.iit.edu).
IIT is a private research university in the heart of Chicago. IIT’s recently developed strategic plan places engineering excellence among its highest priorities. As the largest department in the Armour College of Engineering, the ECE Department is central to this vision. The ECE Department plays a leading role in two key interdisciplinary themes identified in the strategic plan, through its Perfect Power initiative and Medical Imaging Research Center.
The ECE Department offers bachelor, master and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering and in computer engineering. It currently has 23 full-time, including 21 tenured/tenure-track, faculty members; 296 undergraduate students; and 520 graduate students. The department’s research, which is focused in the areas of power engineering, image and signal processing, communications engineering, computer engineering, and electronics, had expenditures totaling $10.5M in the most recent fiscal year.

Assistant Professor
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the assistant professor level. Priority will be given to candidates in (a) power electronics and in (b) networks and communication with special emphasis on network and wireless security. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and sustain an internationally recognized research program, be an effective classroom teacher at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and engage in service to the university and the profession. The experience and technical background needed to develop an externally funded research program are essential. Candidates are expected to obtain significant research funding that supports graduate students and to develop a record of published research. Candidates must hold a doctorate in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
The ECE department at IIT offers ABET accredited BS degrees in electrical and in computer engineering as well as graduate degrees in electrical and computer engineering. The department currently enrolls 300 undergraduate and 520 graduate students, and has annual research expenditures above $10M.
