Research
Mechanical response, microstructural failure/damage characterization and constitutive modeling of traditional as well as advanced materials under a wide range of loading conditions including high-strain-rates, multiaxial stress states and elevated temperatures.
Some of the recent research topics are:
- High-strain-rate constitutive response, failure characterization and modeling of cellular solids
- Thermo-mechanical coupling and adiabatic shear banding in metals
- Mechanical response of unidirectional composites as a function of loading rate and stress multiaxiality
- High-strain-rate testing techniques
- Ballistic impact, penetration mechanics and impact-resistant structures
- Crashworthiness of composite materials and structures
