Herek Clack
Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering
You could say that Associate Professor Herek Clack's research packs more bang for the buck. A highly published researcher, Clack has developed a new combustion laboratory at IIT and established a research group focusing on reacting, multiphase, turbulent flows and mitigation of toxic products of combustion. An expert in mercury waste remediation, Clack was a recipient of the highly coveted National Science Foundation Career Award, given to the country's most promising young faculty-researchers.
Clack is also very involved as a mentor for minority students. He is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers and fully participates in pre-college programs that promote interest in math, science and engineering among minority high school students.
