    Walter  Nathan

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Founder and Chairman of RTC Industries

Walter Nathan earned his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1944. He came to IIT because it had a great reputation and still does, he says. "IIT is a great school, it has grown with the times and is one of the best technical schools there is."

In 1950 Nathan founded RTC Industries, which designs and produces point-of-sale displays and merchandising equipment for retailers worldwide.

Nathan attended IIT during World War II. School was in session year round and he had to keep his grades up or he'd be drafted into the Army or Navy. After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy for 2½ years.

He serves on IIT's Board of Trustees and the board of the Institute of Design. He is also the founder of the Pilsen Industrial Council, Board Member of his Temple, and a member of the National Board of Governors of the American Jewish Committee.

He loves Chicago, where he and his wife Ann have lived for 70 years, calling it one of the best cities in the world.
