    Loan Entrance/Exit Interviews

    Incoming Students (Entrance)

Loan interviews are especially important to new students, who often lack experience repaying and managing debt, and continuing undergraduate or graduate students who change schools or careers. The law requires IIT to provide loan entrance interviews to first-time Stafford Loan borrowers before the first disbursement of a loan to a borrower.

    Graduating Students (Exit)

Students who have borrowed Federal Loans while attending the Illinois Institute of Technology are required by federal law to complete exit counseling prior to leaving the University. The purpose of exit counseling is to provide the student with important information regarding debt-management strategies and loan repayment, including deferments, grace periods, loan consolidation, and loan default. Thus, loan exit interviews give students the tools needed to repay their loans and avoid default. Students may complete their exit counseling online at mappingyourfuture.org/sx.

    Mapping Your Future

Mapping Your Future is a website that offers online entrance and exit loan counseling. It will give you information about the importance of repayment, the consequences of defaulting on a loan, and a review of deferments and forbearances. It also covers information regarding repayment options, an anticipated monthly repayment amount, and a review of deferments and forbearances.

You can view your loan history online at www.nslds.ed.gov.

If you have further questions after completing the online counseling session, contact the financial aid office at 312.567.7219.
