Course Schedule
Complete course listings for upcoming semesters will be posted on the Enrollment Services website. Questions about the Course Schedule should be directed to Student Services at student.services@iit.edu.
Academic Advising
All graduate students are encouraged to consult with a faculty advisor before registration. Some academic departments require advising before registration. Students should check with their respective academic departments. For more detailed information about advising, please visit the Enrollment Services website.
Registration
Students are strongly encouraged to register for classes online using Web for Students. Go to my.iit.edu, click on Web for Students, then log in to begin the registration process.
If you are registering for an Internet section, the course number will be followed by section number "251", "252", or "253". If you are out-of-state, use the designation "Internet out-of-state." For in-state, use the designation "Internet in-state." If you are taking the course at an IITV corporate site, the section number is "092". If you are taking the course here on IIT's Main Campus, the section number is "051".
A registration confirmation will be sent to your IIT email address within 72 hours of registration. Again, some departments require academic advising before you are permitted to register.
If online services are not convenient for you, your course registration can be completed in person at the Office of the Registrar.
Financial Assistance
The Office of Financial Aid will assist new and continuing graduate students in gathering information about how best to finance their education.
U.S. students: For information on student loans and other financing options, visit the Office of Financial Aid website or contact that office directly at finaid@iit.edu or 312.567.7219. IIT's financial aid award will be sent to your IIT email address (see below for information about accessing your IIT email account).
International students: Graduate fellowships, teaching assistantships and research assistantships are awarded by individual departments to a limited number of highly qualified, full-time students at the time of admission. If you receive a funding award, you will be notified of the award in your official admission letter. Departmental funding is based on merit, not need, and every applicant is automatically considered upon timely submission of a complete application packet. No additional paperwork is required. Click here for more information about financing options for international students.
Tuition Payments
For information about tuition and fee rates, payment methods and payment plans, please visit the Bursar's Office website or contact that office directly at bursar@iit.edu or 312.567.3785.
Immunization Requirement
Illinois law requires that students enrolled in colleges and universities be immunized against certain communicable diseases. For that reason, students are required to submit proof of immunization to the Student Health Center. Individuals who are not properly immunized or who do not have proof of immunization may receive the required immunizations at the Student Health Center for a nominal fee. Students taking all classes via the Internet or at one of IITV's corporate sites can file a written request for exemption from the immunization requirement.
A registration hold will be placed on your account if you fail to comply with immunization requirements. For more information, visit the Student Health Center website or contact that office directly at student.health@iit.edu or 312.808.7100.
Insurance Requirement
All full-time students, occupants of IIT residence halls, and part-time and full-time international students on J-1 or F-1 visas are required to purchase IIT's student health insurance policy or to submit proof of equivalent insurance. International students who have insurance provided by their place of employment may be able to waive student insurance. Eligible students who wish to be considered for an insurance waiver must fill out the Student Health Insurance Waiver form. Part-time students, spouses of students, and/or minor children can purchase insurance, if desired. For more information, visit the Student Health Center website or contact that office directly at student.health@iit.edu or 312.808.7100.
Student E-mail Policy
New IIT students receive a unique identifier (UID) that is also their IIT email username and login for IIT's networking and computing services. Anytime you need to use resources online that are restricted to IIT members (such as the myIIT portal, computer labs and the IIT network), the system will prompt you for your UID and password. Your UID will remain the same during your entire IIT experience. To access the myIIT portal for the first time, each student must log in using his or her IIT-assigned UID (User ID) for the username and the IIT-assigned password. On subsequent visits to the myIIT portal, you will continue to use your IIT-assigned UID as your username along with a password you create during the process outlined below.
1. Find your UID (User ID) online
Go to http://myuid.iit.edu/ and fill out the MyUID search form. Your UID will appear in bold black text in the Student Results area.
2. Determine your initial myIIT password
Your initial password to access the myIIT portal consists of the two-digit month and two-digit day of your birth date plus the last 4-digits of your CWID number (the ID number you received when you were admitted to IIT). For example, if your birth date is June 8 and the last four digits of your CWID are 1234, your initial password would be 06081234.
When you log in to the portal for the first time, you will be prompted to create a new password.
3. Access the myIIT portal
Once you have your UID and password, you can access the myIIT portal. On the myIIT login page, enter your myIIT username and password in the login area on the left side of the screen.
Student ID Cards and Parking
The Access, Card, and Parking Services Office issues all university student identification cards and parking permits.
All registered full- and part-time students who will be studying on campus should obtain a student identification card. Distance learning students who are interested in getting an IIT ID card should email hawkcard@iit.edu and provide the following information:
First name
Last name
Address, including street number and name
City, state, and ZIP code
Phone number where you can best be reached
Email address
Class Location: Internet or IITV location
Please also include a brief explanation of why an IIT student ID card is of value or benefit to you (e.g., for discount on textbooks). HawkCard will evaluate this information and determine if you need a photo or non-photo ID.
For more information about student identification cards, visit the HawkCard website or call 312.567.8968.
For information about parking on campus, visit the Parking Services website or call 312.567.8968.
