    Description:

    The objective of the civil engineering program is to produce graduates that are prepared to enter the civil engineering profession. This program provides breadth in core sub-disciplines and depth in at least one area of specialization.

    Research Facilities:

    Research Facilities include laboratories devoted to concrete structures, structural models, metal structures, materials, architectural engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, and construction engineering and management. In additional, researchers have access to the extensive on-campus facilities of the IIT Research Institute and the Argonne National Laboratory nearby. The department has its own computer lab exclusively for civil and architectural engineering students and a computer-aided engineering and design lab equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software.

    1. Cumulative undergraduate GPA minimum: 3.0/4.0
    2. GRE minimum score:
      MS/MAS:
      For tests taken before Oct. 1, 2002: 1200 (combined)
      For tests taken on or after Oct. 1, 2002: 900 (quantitative + verbal) 2.5 (analytical)

      PhD:
      For tests taken before Oct. 1, 2002: 1200 (combined)
      For tests taken on or after Oct. 1, 2002: 1000 (quantitative + verbal) 3.0 (analytical)

    3. TOEFL minimum (if required): 550/213/80 (paper based/ computer based/ internet based)

      Students who have completed an accredited program in a related field or in a foreign school may be admitted on a provisional status until any deficiencies in preparation are removed.
