Get to Know Residence and Greek Life staff!Ashley Lucas joined the Residence and Greek Life family in 2007 as the Operations Coordinator. Currently, she is the Service Coordinator overseeing the access program for all of the residential buildings and manages the Community Desk Assistant Program. During the summer months you can see Ashley working hard to make the Summer Conference program run successfully and efficiently. Ashley holds a B.A. from Northeastern Illinois University in History and Political Science, and has a Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in Local Government Management from IIT’s Stuart School of Business. Ashley currently serves as a member of the Historical Preservation Commission of Kankakee County. Ashley enjoys spending time with family, friends and her beagle named Max.
Betsi Pinkus-Huizenga is the Director for Residential Education and is currently working to get her Ph.D. from IIT in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She received her B. A. in Business, Sociology and Spanish from Illinois Wesleyan University where she was active in Residence Life, Conferencing, Student Activities and the Student Volunteer Center. Betsi received her M. A. in College Student Personnel in Higher Education from Bowling Green State University with her graduate assistantship at Ashland University in Career Development, where she also worked as a Residence Hall Director. She spent a summer at Albion College with an ACUHO-I internship and later worked as a property manager at a privatized housing institution for students. She was also the Residence Hall Director for Gunsaulus and Carman Hall as well as the ASA and Kappa Sororities Betsi is excited to work with the diverse and ambitious student population on IIT’s campus and can’t wait for everyone to meet her husband, Kevin and her cat, Wobbles.
Christina Marino is the Residence Hall Director for Carman and Gunsaulus Halls. Christina received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Studies from Baldwin-Wallace College. While at BWC, Christina was involved with Student Activities, Habitat for Humanity and a Resident Assistant. She received her Masters of Arts in International Studies from Ohio University with a concentration in Southeast Asian Studies.
More recently Christina was a Residence Life Coordinator at Elmhurst College. Christina is excited to be at IIT and working with the wonderful international students. In her free time, Christina enjoys watching movies, spending time with family and friends and playing with her dog, Pocket.
Danny Pitts is a Residence and Greek Life S.E.I.U. Local 1 Utility Worker. He completes general cleaning services other custodial assignments in Gunsaulus Hall. Danny joined the IIT staff in March of 1992. Danny has been a part of S.E.I.U Local 1 for over 25 years with various organizations and has worked in the IIT Graduate Apartment buildings for more than 12 years. He enjoys working with the Residence and Greek Life team, and works hard to make the students’ “home away from home” orderly and efficient.
Derrick Laster is a Residence and Greek Life S.E.I.U. Local 1 Utility Worker. He completes general cleaning services other custodial assignments in Carman Hall. Derrick has been a Utility Worker at IIT for more than 16 years and currently serves as the union steward. He was born and raised in the City of Chicago and studied Architectural, Drafting, and AutoCad at Harold Washington College where he received an Associate’s Degree. Derrick is a published author of a collection of poetry. His book is titled "Kiss".
Eduardo Chavez is a Residence and Greek Life S.E.I.U. Local 1 Utility Worker in Gunsaulus Hall. Eduardo has been working at IIT for over 10 years in Residence and Greek Life as a custodial staff member. Before IIT, he worked in the culinary industry for more than three years. Eduardo takes pride in his role at IIT, making Gunsaulus Hall a place where students can feel welcome. Eduardo says that “seeing the students excel and grow, is the best part about working at IIT.”
Emma Titus is the Greek Life Coordinator in the office of Residence and Greek Life. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising Account Management from Drake University. While at Drake University she was highly involved in Greek Life. Emma is currently working towards her Masters of Education in Adult and Higher Education with an emphasis in Student Affairs at Northern Illinois University. She expects to graduate in May 2012. In her free time, Emma enjoys scrapbooking, reading, and going for bike rides. Emma is very excited to be working with Greek Life at IIT!
Erin Newell is the Residence Hall Director for Graduate, Lewis, North, and South Halls in McCormick Student Village. Erin received her Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Public Relations and Organizational Communication from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. More recently, Erin worked in Residence Life and Career Services at Springfield College in Massachusetts while she earned her Master of Education in Psychology with a concentration in Student Personnel Administration. Erin is excited to be back in the Midwest and living in Chicago and loves being a part of the dynamic IIT community.
Jordan Alexander is the Residence Hall Director for Fowler and East Halls in McCormick Student Village. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont where she studied Music Education, and more recently attended Colorado State University where she earned a Master’s degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education and a Certificate in Women’s Studies. Jordan is thrilled to be working in Residence and Greek Life at IIT and living in Chicago, though she will always call New Jersey ‘home.’
Kristy Repinski is currently the Operations Manager. She joined the Residence and Greek Life team in August 2010 as the Operations Coordinator. She coordinates the maintenance request and facility inspection programs. Additionally, she works on facility improvement projects. Kristy completed her Master of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Kent State University in May 2010. She is a Cleveland native but is very happy to be living in Chicago. She is excited to help make the IIT residential experience the best it can be.
Liz Winters joined the Residence and Greek Life team as the Office Coordinator in August of 2011. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in History from Marquette University, focusing her studies in the Middle Eastern region. As a student at Marquette, she participated in Residence Hall Association as a freshman and a sophomore and was a Resident Assistant as a Junior and a Senior. A native Chicagoan, Liz was excited not only to be working in Residential Services again but working at a university in the city. In her free time, Liz enjoys reading … and then reading some more. Liz is very excited to be working at Residence and Greek Life and being a part of the IIT community.
Ramon Ramirez is a Residence and Greek Life S.E.I.U. Local 1 Utility Worker. He completes general cleaning services other custodial assignments in Carman Hall. Ramon enjoys his job and takes pride his work. Ramon has been with IIT for over 13 years. Prior to that, he was employed by the Chicago Board of Education. Ramon grew up in Texas and came to Chicago in the early 1970’s. Currently, he resides on the south side of Chicago.
Sarah Lambert joined Residence and Greek Life team in 2011 as the Resident Assignment Coordinator. Sarah is responsible for coordinating on-campus residential agreements and assignments. Sarah earned her Bachelor of Arts in Government and International Affairs from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. While attending Augustana Sarah was active in the campus community as a Peer Advisor and Community Service Day team leader. More recently Sarah worked with at-risk-youth in Boys Town, Nebraska. In her free time Sarah enjoys going to museums and volunteering with local pug rescue groups. Sarah and her pug Winnie recently relocated to Chicago from Omaha, NE. Sarah is excited about all of the “big city” attractions that Chicago has to offer with the balance of being a part of the IIT community!
Stephan Oechsle is the Residence Hall Director for State Street Village. Stephan earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education and a Master of Education in College Student Personnel both from Ohio University (Go Bobcats!). While at Ohio U. as an undergraduate he was active in Greek Life and Student Government and as a graduate student led the Office of Off-Campus Living as its Coordinator. More recently Stephan was a public school teacher for Maynard Public Schools in Massachusetts. Stephan is excited to be back in Higher Education and the Midwest; he loves working with all of the awesome people that make up the IIT community.
Terrence Humphrey joined Illinois Institute of Technology in August 2006 and has worked in various operational capacities for Residence and Greek Life, including management of the graduate apartments, supervision of SEIU Local 1 Utility Workers, and completion of multiple building improvement projects. Currently, as the Associate Director for Occupancy, Terrence provides oversight for room reservation and leasing, auditing, billing and invoicing for special groups, and the coordination of marketing campaigns. Prior to joining the IIT community, Terrence’s professional experience included marketing management for the American Dietetic Association and property management for AMLI Residential. Terrence is customer service focused and maintains an open door policy for students and colleagues.
