Renovation Projects
Housing & Residential Services, Facility Operations, and Design & Construction work together to bring building improvements and renovations for the students, faculty and staff who live in campus housing.
A list of select building improvements is listed below:
2011-2012
*New study tables and chairs on each of the State Street Village floor elevator lounges.
*New bike rack located on the south side of Carman.
*Emergency evacuation maps installed into all residence hall rooms and apartments during Community Inspections. These maps provide information on emergency evacuations specific to each residential unit. They will be taped to the back of the main door to each unit.
Summer 2011 (May 15 to August 8):
*Installation of furniture into Carman Hall.
*Tuckpointing and upgrades to fire safety systems in Gunsaulus Hall.
*Upgrades to wireless and wired internet in McCormick Student Village.
*Installation of new heating and cooling units in East Hall and Lewis Hall.
*New study tables and chairs in Lewis Hall, Graduate Hall, and East Hall basements.
*Additional print release station located in the vending area.
*New flat screen TVs in all floor lounges.
*Lewis Hall 1st floor Sustainability Theme Community improvements, including a new water fountain/water bottle filler, dual flush toilets, low flow showerheads, low energy lighting, and a television monitor that reads out energy usage statistics for the floor.
*Installation of a print release station in SSV Middle 5th floor elevator lounge.
*New desk chairs in all Gunsaulus apartments.
*Relocation and renovation of the Gunsaulus student lounge. The lounge is now located in room 107 and is equipped with a kitchenette, furniture, and a flat screen television.
*Renovation of a new Gunsaulus lounge space located in room 108. This lounge is equipped with a pool table, a print release station, and a bathroom. Residents can check out equipment for the pool table at the Gunsaulus front desk.
2010-2011
*Upgraded wireless internet access in all campus housing locations.
*New lounge furniture and flooring in MSV McCormick and Cohen Lounges.
*New roof in MSV.
*Connected residence halls to the Perfect Power Grid.
*Upgraded heating systems in Lewis and East Hall.
2009-2010:
*New lounge furniture and flooring in MSV Center Lounge.
*Improved 5th floor decks in State Street Village.
