Apartments
The high-rise apartments provide approximately 320 unfurnished apartments for faculty, staff and graduate students. A variety of apartments types are available, including studio, one, two or three bedroom units. The apartments are rented on a 12-month basis and are located on the north side of campus.
Three of the four high-rise apartment buildings were designed by the renowned Mies van der Rohe.
Presently, Bailey Hall and Cunningham Hall are closed for renovation. Carman Hall is open to graduate students for 2009-2010.
Housing Services has a variety of campus housing options. IIT is growing and campus housing continues to be a commodity. It is strongly recommended that students apply for housing as early as possible.
Campus housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis. It is recommended that graduate students apply for housing a early as possible.
As of August 1, 2009, Carman Hall is fully occupied for 2009-2010.
When applying for graduate housing, please keep these deadlines in mind:

To meet eligibility requirements, the applicant must be affiliated as follows:
- Full-time faculty
- Full-time staff
- Registered Graduate Student
- Married, registered undergraduate living with spouse
- Registered undergraduate 23 years of age or older
- Single registered undergraduate parent with custody of child/children
Housing Services is pleased you have chosen to live on campus, and has developed the Lease Transfer policy should the need to change lease-holders arise.
- The prospective leaseholder must meet one of the university eligibility requirements listed below:

- Married/Single graduate student
- Married undergraduate with spouse living here
- Single parent undergraduate with fulltime custody of child/children
- Undergraduate 23 years (Proof of age is required)
- Current leases holders are not qualify for lease transfers
- Staff (paycheck issued by IIT or IITRI)
- Faculty
- Retired faculty/staff with prior lease agreement while employed
- The prospective leaseholder must not have disciplinary sanctions preventing campus residency.
- The leaseholder attempting to transfer a university apartment lease to a new leaseholder must pass a sanitation inspection before a lease transfer can be approved by Housing Services.
- Applicants on the Housing Services waiting list have priority over all other potential applicants.
- Applicants seeking Standard 12-Month Leases will have priority over those who request short-term agreements.
- Leaseholders are allowed to upgrade to an apartment, but not the same sized unit.
- Early lease transfers are subject of approval from Housing Services. If you have been a leaseholder for less than 4 months, you are not eligible for a lease transfer.
