Residence and Greek Life works closely with the office of Student Life to develop policies to facilitate residents moving from MSV, SSV, Carman or Gunsaulus to the greek quad. Listed below are the 2011-2012 Greek Move Out and Summer Boarders policies.POLICIES
2011-2012 Greek Move Out
GREEK MOVE OUT:
After Recruitment, Residence and Greek Life partners with the Office of Student Life to facilitate new fraternity and sorority members moving from campus housing to the Greek Quad. Details regarding the Spring 2012 Greek Move-Out are listed below.
Contract Cancellation & Fees:
Gunsaulus, Carman, SSV and MSV residents who participate in Greek Recruitment and desire to move to a fraternity or sorority may do so without 2011-2012 Room and Board contract cancellation fees between by December 1, 2011 only. Students must submit the Greek Petition by December 1 at Noon. Residents who wish to cancel their Carman, Gunsaulus, SSV or MSV contract after December 1 will be assessed appropriate cancellation fees (refer to the Residence and Greek Life Room and Board Contract for the cancellation policy).
The Greek Petition forms are available online beginning November 7 at Noon. The deadline to submit the Greek Petition is December 1 at Noon.
Upon receiving the Greek Petition form, Residence and Greek Life will provide additional details regarding the resident’s pending move out within 2-business days. Residents must receive written approval from Residence and Greek Life prior to moving to the Greek Quad.
Students submitting a Greek Petition after September 2 at Noon will be held to full cancellation fees per the 2011-2012 Room and Board Contract. Late Greek Petition will not be accepted.
Eligibility:
Students must be a new member of a Greek organization to be eligible for this policy. Residents are encouraged to seek counsel with the Office of Financial Aid to determine, if any, impact moving to the Greek Quad may have on various grants or scholarships.
Fees:
A transfer fee of $300, and nightly prorated room and board fees will be applied to the resident’s account that will be transitioning to a fraternity house. Residents moving to the sorority houses will not be assessed the transfer fee. Prorated room and board fees will be applied to resident’s account that will be transitioning to a sorority house. Prorated fees will be based on actual move out date from the residence halls, based on the return date of the resident’s room key. Based on resident room and board assignments, nightly prorated fees may vary.
Residents may not use more than 10% of their Bonus Points. If more than 10% of the points are used, this amount will be billed to the residents account.
Move Out:
Residents cannot move out without prior written permission from Residence and Greek Life. Any moves without prior written permission or moves not completed by September 6 at 12-Noon will incur an improper move out fee of $150 per day.
Important Dates:
Thursday, December 1, Noon – Deadline for submitting online Greek Petition.
Monday, December 12, 12-Noon – Deadline for moving out of the residence halls.
